A local MP is calling on the State Government to conduct a full review of local bus services in the electorate.
Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams said she has seen a steady increase in concerns at the level of bus services being offered to our local community including school routes and local town services.
“While I understand that a mandated review is required under the current Busways contract, I have written to the Minister for Transport, the Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP to make sure that it is an open and transparent review of all local Busways services including fares, timetables, school bus routes as well as pick up and drop off times to and from school.
“The current location of the school bus interchange at Westport High School also needs to be reviewed following complaints from residents and teachers.
“I have had representations from St Joseph’s High School, Westport High School as well as Port Macquarie-Hastings Council on these issues as well as from members of the community,” Mrs Williams said.
“This is not a reflection of local Busways staff, it is simply the need for a review of the current services being offered.
“As an area with limited public transport options, we should be looking at ways to improve services not just for school transport, but also for the wider community. I’d also like to see improved services between the Camden Haven, Port Macquarie and Wauchope as well as the timetabling for all services.”
