Nippers carnival a huge success

Wauchope-Bonny Hills SLSC hosted a very successful Mid North Coast branch carnival on December 4, taking advantage of a short break in the wet weather.
According to Wauchope-Bonny Hills Youth Development Director Lyn Gallagher every aspect of the carnival went well – safety, participation numbers, quality of competition and sportsmanship were all excellent.
“I would like to thank our whole club for all their effort in hosting the carnival,” she said. “We had a fantastic team of workers on the day.”
“The officials and volunteers from the visiting clubs also worked extremely hard and contributed to the success of the carnival,” she added.
The conditions in the water were difficult however the sand events ran extremely smoothly, with sprints, flags and relays all fiercely contested.
Congratulations to Tacking Point SLSC for their convincing win in the overall pointscore. They were followed by the Port Macquarie club in second and Wauchope Bonny Hills in third place.
The Bonny Hills girls made it a clean sweep in the Under 11 flags event, placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. They followed this up with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th in the sprint and finished 2nd in the sprint relay.
WBH Nippers are now looking forward to the annual Christmas Party on Sunday, December 18. Traditionally this involves a visit from Santa, who usually arrives in the IRB or by surfboat.
“We’ve had some wonderful Christmas parties over the years,” Lyn said with a smile. “I wonder what Santa has in store for us this year?”
