2011 has been a big year for the Mid North Coast Hap Ki Do Academy with six students receiving their 1st Dan Black Belt and another 29 students receiving a variety of colour belts.
Chief Instructor, Clive Stewart, 5th Dan Black Belt, graded 35 students over two events in Port Macquarie. Students at the Black and Senior Belt grading worked for nearly three hours to demonstrate their skills in kicking, punching, throwing, wood -breaking, sparring, weapons use and self defence.
The average time for a student to reach the level of Black Belt is approximately seven years of constant study and practice. Congratulations to the students who were awarded their Black Belts: Russell Brayford, Mitch Clark, Bryce Cunning, Graham Cunning, Kaleb Murphy and Doris Wight-Wick.
On Saturday afternoon, students from the Port Macquarie and Nabiac schools of the Mid North Coast Hap Ki Do Academy joined together for a dynamic Junior Belt grading. Clive Stewart, was impressed with the standard within the club and said “Hap Ki Do is a lifestyle Martial Art aimed at living the philosophies of healthy mind and body with high principles of conduct from students.
“These two gradings have shown students’ commitment to the Art and I would like to pass on my congratulations to them all”.
