TransGrid has announced an extension to the nomination period for the Stroud to Lansdowne Project Community Working Group.
TransGrid spokesperson Hannah Dunn said the extension until December 23 provided further opportunity for community members to submit their nominations and be part of TransGrid’s planning process.
“The Community Working Group will play an important role to help TransGrid select the route of a new high capacity power line between Stroud Road and Lansdowne,” Ms Dunn said.
The capacity of TransGrid’s electricity network between Stroud and Lansdowne is expected to be exceeded by summer 2016, with peak summer demand forecast to increase up to 25 percent during the next decade.
“While TransGrid’s electricity network can supply the needs of the Mid North Coast today, the population is forecast to increase by more than 30,000 over the next decade,” Ms Dunn said.
Hence TransGrid is seeking nominations from community members.
Environmental consultant AECOM will select all Community Working Group members.
