Spreading Christmas cheer

Christmas should not be a lonely, difficult or uncomfortable time.
That’s what Karen and Max Davies reckon, and as such have issued an open invitation to the residents and visitors of Port Macquarie to head down to their annual Christmas Day lunch on December 25 at Town Beach.
Last year about 200 people turned out to what was described as a relaxed, friendly, fun family day with a scrumptious feast to boot.
And it’s at no cost.
“Maybe your family has grown up and left home or you are just spending Christmas alone,” Karen said.
“Maybe you just want to get out for the day. Whatever your motive, we’d love to see you.
“The aim is to spread the Christmas spirit with everyone who has no family to share Christmas Day with.”
The day is organised by Port Macquarie City Church and starts at 10.30am with games and activities.
This is followed by a Christmas lunch at noon with more games and fun to follow, finishing at 3pm.
Santa will be dropping in with lollies and toys for the kids.
“Come and join the fun, everyone one is welcome,” Karen said.
“No one should spend Christmas alone.
“It is about having a good time, meeting people and sharing in the family atmosphere.”
The event is located at Marine Park, next to the skate park at Town Beach.
This year organisers are expecting a crowd in excess of 200 people.
“This is a community happening with support from many businesses as well as Port Macquarie’s Council,” Karen said.
“The support from the business community has been overwhelming, from small local businesses to large corporations.
“As well as business support many community members volunteer their time organising and running the event.
“This is a family occasion and in keeping with this it is a no alcohol day.”
