The first national Drag King and Queen Competition will be hosted by not-for-profit organisation Out N Hastings on February 4 at the Glasshouse between 4 and 8pm.
The event has been designed to promote acceptance of the GLBQTI community and to reduce discrimination for members in the greater community and will also promote Port Macquarie as a GLBTQI friendly region, and bring more tourist dollars to local businesses.
The event is to be hosted by Miss Candy Box and will consist of heats and finals for both drag kings and drag queens. Each participant will initially be allowed a three minute segment to provide an act.
The panel of guest judges will include Tobin Saunders, Maya Spinnari and Shane Haydock.
This unique event will provide the Port Macquarie community with a diverse entertainment opportunity.
Out N Hastings is a not-for-profit organisation that plans social events for its 300 plus members. Events include dances, activities and social gatherings. Any money earned is put back into the community through purchasing necessary equipment and paying for following events.
Tickets on sale for $27.50 at the Glasshouse website www.glasshouse.org.au, or at the door.
