It would have been nice if the Government had admitted the (poker machine) legislation has been mainly dropped because of the strong objections from ordinary voters. A $2 (or larger) limit makes more sense to me, also a limit of withdrawals from ATMs in club and hotels. The original scheme didn’t seem to have anything going for it to be effective with problem gamblers. It just seemed a nonsense idea from someone who wanted to flex some muscle. Come on, admit you were wrong, Julia.
