Changed traffic conditions

Landslip repair work has been given the go ahead west of Wauchope.
As a result the Oxley Highway at Doyles West, just east of Gingers Creek will have changed traffic conditions in coming weeks due to the upgrade.
NSW Deputy Premier and Oxley MP, Andrew Stoner, said the $2.8 million state funded project 78 kilometres west of Wauchope is essential after the road was damaged by heavy rain in early 2011.
“Some clearing work has already been carried out in preparation for the road rebuilding work but now the bulk of the repair work needs to be done,” Mr Stoner said.
“This means there will be changed traffic conditions and Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) appreciates motorists’ patience while the repair work is completed.
“Once the project is done the new stretch of the highway will provide a safer and smoother road for motorists and will reduce maintenance costs.
“Work will start in early February and is expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.”
Day work will start Tuesday, February 7, and will be carried out between 7am and 5pm on weekdays and between 7am and 12.30pm on Saturdays.
Closures may be required during the work and motorists can expect up to 45 minute delays. Traffic controllers will be in place to advise motorists of any delays and toilet facilities will be provided.
Night closures of the highway will also start on February 7 on weekdays between 8pm and 5am.
Access for emergency vehicles will be available.
Motorists will be kept informed of changed traffic conditions by electronic message signs on the approach to the site.
Motorists can also request to be advised of changed traffic conditions by contacting the Transport Management Centre.
Outside work hours traffic will be restricted to one lane of alternating traffic, with traffic signals and a 40 km/h speed limit in place.
RMS is urging motorists to consider the closure when planning their trip. Motorists can use Waterfall Way or the New England Highway as alternative routes.
