Draconian legislation

The South Australian government is having another go at getting the legislation “right” to ban bikie gangs and/or prohibit those who associate with proscribed gangs.
If they overcome the court challenges to this legislation (they failed the last time) then we will see, for the first time, this kind of unenforceable and draconian legislation in Australia. All citizens should be concerned with this kind of legislation as it will not stop at the targeting of bikie gangs. It will inevitably be extended to other organisations that the government of the day is not comfortable with.
If there is a problem with bikie gang crimes they must be dealt with in the usual police enforcement way. If bikie gangs are running amok and committing murder then the perpetrators, when caught and convicted, should face the death penalty. Instead of legislation to ban bikie gangs the death penalty must be reinstated to deal with murder, for all offenders, without fear or favor.
As for bikie gangs and others dealing in drugs and weapons they should face harsh penalties as should anyone else pursuing a life of crime against the community.
