The nightmare continues for the families and friends of two local teenagers killed in a fatal pedestrian collision on New Year’s Eve with the announcement the driver involved has been charged following investigations by Police.
Amid offences for dangerous and negligent driving, it was revealed by Police the driver involved was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, and will appear in court to face a low range PCA charge.
About 12.35pm on Sunday, January 1, Kane Bramble, a 19-year-old man from Port Macquarie, and Clint Ritchie, a 16-year-old youth from Wauchope, were walking in an easterly direction on the Oxley Highway at Sancrox when they were allegedly hit by an eastbound 1990 Nissan Patrol.
The teenagers tragically died at the scene.
The vehicle driver, a 37-year-old man, was subjected to a roadside breath test.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station and subsequently passed a further breath analysis.
The driver was then questioned by police in relation to the circumstances surrounding the incident and the Nissan was seized for examination.
Following extensive inquiries, police issued the 37-year-old man with a Future Court Attendance Notice on Friday for the offences of:
â— Two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death
â— Two counts of negligent driving occasioning death
â— Drive with low range PCA.
He will appear in Wauchope Local Court on April 12.
