Hockey’s happening in 2012

After a turbulent off season with the damage to the field, the hockey association has delivered the good news that the hockey field is to be replaced and will be playable by mid-May.
It is now time to register with Port City Hockey Club for the 2012 season. Senior’s registration will be held Friday tomorrow evening, March 9 at 5.30pm, at TGs. As per usual our fantastic sponsors the Town Green Inn will provide some light refreshments and a bite to eat during registration. Players are advised the registration fee for the 2012 season will be $320 of which $100 is payable upfront upon registration.
Port City Hockey Club has also started junior registrations for 2012. Registrations are being taken at the field on Tuesday evenings from 5pm to 6pm for existing players. Juniors may also register at the senior’s registration night on Friday at TGs. Fees this year for the juniors will be $100 for under 15s and 13s and $80 for all the younger kids. Family discounts may apply.
All new juniors are welcome to a “Come Try Hockey” day on Saturday, March 10 from 9am to 11am. All new players will get a hockey “kit” as part of their registration which includes; new stick, ball, mouth guard and shin pads.
Training has commenced for all players on Tuesday evenings from 5pm for juniors and 6pm for seniors. Alternate training arrangements have been made for the duration of the field re-build and will be advised. The expected season opening match for first grade will be on March 24 in Taree with the remainder of the season set to start from mid to late May after the construction works of the new pitch are completed.
