Hundreds of bike riders have hit the road, leaving Ballarat in Victoria yesterday to head to Port Macquarie, in Brad Foster’s 1200km inspiring cycle challenge dubbed Road to Port.
The long haul event raises money for the KIDS Foundation.
KIDS is an acronym for Kids In Dangerous Situations and exists to try to redress the startling childhood injury statistics in Australia.
The inaugural cycling challenge is scheduled to end in Port Macquarie on May 3.
Brad Foster, a loyal supporter of KIDS, set out to raise $140,000 over a two year period and after reaching his goal, wanted to do more.
So together with swimming legend Susie O’Neill, a former teacher and founder of KIDS Foundation, Brad has initiated Road to Port, an event that in its first year raised in excess of $165,000 to support The KIDS Foundation Injury Prevention and Recovery Programs.
This year’s Road to Port course will take in a scenic route, staying at beautiful places, including a winery and a resort whilst covering more than 1200km from Ballarat/Melbourne to Port Macquarie, completing the final stage in the region.
