People looking for a bargain are sure to find one at the Port Macquarie Historical Society’s jumble sale.
The event is to be held on Saturday, June 9 from 9.30am in the grounds of the Port Macquarie Historical Museum at 22 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie. The day will also include an open day for the museum, with free admission.
“We have been collecting some great items for the sale and now it’s time to sell them,” says Society President Leonie Laws.
“We have collected a bit of everything, with lots of books, household items, bric-a-brac and some old treasures too. Our volunteer gardener Camilla Rayner has been busy potting up plants to sell and another of our volunteers Cec Radley has made hanging baskets.”
After searching for a bargain, people can refresh with a sausage or bacon and egg roll and soft drink from the sausage sizzle and then take a look at the museum’s 14 rooms and galleries, including temporary exhibitions ‘Governed’, ‘Love to Read’ and ‘Made in the Hastings’.
Proceeds from the sale will go towards maintaining the society’s buildings, including its heritage listed front building, and caring for its large and significant collection.
Donation of items for the sale are also most welcome. Items can be left at the museum at 22 Clarence Street or phone 6583 1108 to arrange pick up.
