We are told repeatedly by council that electrical appliances, etc, are not to be put in the red bins, but taken to the tip for disposal to help reduce landfill.
When I did this with an of old jug and a DVD player, I was charged $6 (the minimum charge to enter the area) and then told to put them in the normal bin.
So they were just going to landfill anyway!! What a ripoff!
