Every year the Mid-North Coast’s 2MCFM launches into a month-long fundraising campaign to assist the children’s wards at the Macksville, Kempsey, Wauchope and Port Macquarie Hospitals.
One hundred per cent of the money raised is used to purchase vital life-saving medical equipment to treat sick and injured children in our area. During the Annual GIVE ME 5 FOR KIDS Campaign, 2MCFM will be calling upon the local community to donate their five cent pieces or any donation to reach this year’s target. Over the past seven years, with the community’s generosity, almost $200,000 has been raised, which includes a record of just over $43,000 last year.
Some of the big fundraising events this year have included a number of on-air auctions during Strawny’s Brekky Show. Prizes have included: a “State of Origin 2 Package” – with a double pass for the June 13 clash at ANZ Stadium and overnight accommodation and breakfast at Rydges North Sydney; a “Good Food and Wine Show Weekend Away” – including a double pass to all three days of the annual show at Darling Harbour (June 22-24) plus two nights’ accommodation and breakfast; a “Parramatta Eels autographed and framed 2012 Footy Jumper” – kindly donated by the Parramatta Rugby League Football Club and framed by Ormond’s Framing; and a “Jet Fighter Flight” – donated by Rod Hall and Kempsey Toyota.
On Thursday, June 14 there’ll be a “Tea & Treasures” Fundraising Afternoon from 2pm where John and Trish will be offering fresh, warm and best of all, free scones to all those who attend, in exchange for their loose change towards GM5FK, so all you need to do is pay for your Tea or Coffee. Later in the month, the Camden Haven Golf Club and LUSC will conduct a Golf Day; and Surfing NSW will have a “Hangin’ Five” Fundraising Day at Town Beach.
This year’s Wish List includes: For Port Macquarie Hospital – Video Laryngoscope; Wauchope District Hospital – Resuscitation Cart; Kempsey District Hospital – Resuscitation Cart; Macksville District Hospital – Pediatric Cot and TV/DVD Unit.
This year’s target is set at $26 500.
