I attended the Residents Action Group (RAN) ‘pre-election community meeting’ on the July 14 at the Westport Club.
From my point of view, the events that transpired on that day led me to believe that the RAN group are closely and strongly affiliated with the Greens, and are also a strong supporter of sacked councillor Lisa Intemann who claims to be an independent.
Two questions I still have burning in my mind after that meeting are:
Why is RAN supporting one of its committee members’ appointment as a ‘campaign director’ for the Greens ticket even though they claim to be an ‘independent’ organisation ‘free from political influence’?
Is a vote for Lisa Intemann a vote for a RAN, Greens, Intemann alignment and is there a preference deal already in place to this effect?
I believe the general public have had enough of back room deals and ‘covert’ alignments and I believe the general public should be provided answers on the above questions well before voting day, in the interests of full transparency.
I have nothing to hide and www.adamroberts.com.au provides an example of the level of transparency I believe should be presented by all candidates contesting one of the most important local elections in our region’s history.
