GP boost in times of need

The $500,000 boost to health services and GP training is welcomed by (l to r) Bruce Barling of North Coast GP Training, CPC Medical Practice principal Dr David Gregory, Dr Chris Brunsdon of Port Macquarie Hospital undertaking a term in general practice — PGPPP, and medical student Rose Hayward seen here with Lyne MP Rob Oakshott.

A $500,000 refurbishment of Port Macquarie’s CPC Medical Centre will deliver a welcome boost to primary care services and GP training in the area.
Funding for the upgrade had been secured through the Federal Government’s Primary Care.
The upgrade includes a dedicated training room, which will improve both the quality and availability of GP training delivered through the centre
The development would involve the joining of two existing buildings to house all consultation rooms under the same roof.
The refurbishment will provide for two extra GP consulting rooms, additional reception and waiting areas and improved emergency and disability access.
The extra space will enable the centre to expand its nursing and allied health services, as well as extend operating hours by up to 10.5 hours per week, meaning increased access to care for patients.
Lyne MP Rob Oakshot said, “I congratulate Doctors David and Trina Gregory and the whole the team at CPC on their successful application to this program, which has previously funded primary care upgrades in Laurieton, Long Flat and Port Macquarie.”
