At the July meeting of the CWA Port Macquarie Branch, members welcomed a new member, Carole Treloar from Sydney, along with two junior members Mackenzie and Steffani Adams, who were presented with their badges and welcomed into the CWA.
President Margaret Townsend welcomed the new members, along with a visitor from Tamworth, Joy Davy.
During the meeting, International Officer Alice Miller gave the reasoning behind how the Timor Leste’s flag was designed.
Handicraft Officer Marilyn Brown advised that CWA members had knitted and donated a large box of premi-baby clothes to the Neonatal ward and 58 beanies to the Oncology ward of our local hospital as well as giving their annual winter warmers in May to the six local nursing homes in our district. On the suggestion of Dorothy Hopkins, 30-40 knitted teddy bears have been sent to the children at the base hospital.
The Ag./Environment Officer, Betty Hazell, told the gathering many interesting features of the Emu, some of which were quite unusual.
