A record $44,611.21 has been raised during the 8th Annual “GIVE ME 5 FOR KIDS” (GM5FK ) hospital campaign.
The monies will be split between the Port Macquarie, Macksville, Kempsey and Wauchope Hospitals.
The campaign has now raised more than $240,000 since it began in 2005, through radio station 2MCFM, with 100 per cent of the money donated used to purchase specific medical equipment and resources to assist our sick and injured kids.
GM5FK co-ordinator Nik James said, “The Children’s Ward at the Port Hospital can now afford to buy a Video Laryngoscope, Wauchope and Macksville will purchase Resuscitation Carts and Kempsey will have a new Paediatric Cot.”
The month-long campaign is held every June where, this year, more than 130 collection tins were distributed to venues across the region to collect 5 cent pieces and anything larger.
Golf, bowls and surfing competition days were held, along with four on-air auctions and numerous events were conducted by various individuals, organisations, businesses, sporting clubs and schools from across the Mid-North Coast.
