Port Macquarie Public School was among 14 community groups sharing in $39,143, thanks to Port City Bowling Club and the 2012/13 ClubGRANTS scheme.
The school will be using its grant to provide financial assistance to local students, enabling them to attend an annual camp designed specifically for children who are deaf or hearing impaired.
The camp provides students with an opportunity to establish or renew friendships, share experiences and participate in a variety of recreational activities.
These structured activities develop skills in communication and social interaction and growth in the areas of responsibility, self reliance, confidence and cooperation.
CEO of Port City Bowling Club, Larry Collins said, “We think that ClubGRANTS is a gift to the whole community.
“All our donations are aimed at helping as many local people as possible; we especially look out for organisations that can sometimes go unnoticed and often need a helping hand.
“ClubGRANTS funding enables extremely worthwhile activities like Port Macquarie Public School’s camp to continue on each year.
“As a locally owned club, it is essential that we maintain our long-standing tradition of supporting the community that supports us.”
The following groups also received grants from Port City Bowling Club this year: Relay for Life, Hastings District Respite Care, Beyond Blue, Port Macquarie Historical Society, Rolland’s Plains Progress Association, Alzheimer’s Australia NSW, Port Macquarie Public School (Deaf Camp), Men of League, Rotary Lodge NEWIDAFE, Port Macquarie Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Uniting Care Burnside and Port Macquarie Parkinson’s Support Group.
