The Sydney Symphony will bring the awesome power of brass to Port Macquarie for a special performance at the Glasshouse on Friday, August 31.
Port Macquarie audieneces can experience the majestic sound of trumpets, trombones, French horns and tuba of the Sydney Symphony Brass Ensemble led by Australian conductor Michael Mulcahy. The 18 members of the Brass Ensemble will play a program which includes music by Gabrieli, R Strauss, Terracini and more.
The Sydney Symphony Brass Ensemble was formed in 1997 and comprises many of Australia’s finest brass players drawn from the Sydney Symphony.
The performance in Port Macquarie forms part of a tour which also includes Armidale and Grafton.
Ron Prussing, Sydney Symphony Principal Trombone, enjoys getting out of the orchestra’s usual home of the Sydney Opera House and meeting regional music fans.
“These concerts are always some of the most enjoyable and rewarding parts of our year,” says Prussing. “We’re looking forward to bringing a bit of the Sydney Symphony to Port Macquarie.”
