Anaid warms up your winter

Diana Anaid

Diana Anaid is taking time out from recording her fifth album to do what she loves most – getting on the road and playing gigs. And she is heading to the Port Macquarie Hotel on Friday, August 31, to give you a taste.
This “Earthgirl brat from the hippie hills of Nimbin” (Christie Eliezer), is “A major talent” (Juice). Her music possesses what Rolling Stone describes as an “emotional and sometimes primal energy”. It is as if all she has survived has removed any fear of total emotional surrender to the music.
Diana’s organic and honest approach to song-writing has garnered a loyal fan base as well as critical success for her albums including 2004’s ‘Beautiful Obscene’, which crossed Diana into the mainstream and saw her first international hit ‘Last Thing’ securing festivals at home including Big Day Out and The Falls Festival.
Diana has been described as “Cooler than Ani DiFranco” by the Village Voice in New York. She has had five ARIA nominations and the reputation of this “imaginative tunesmith” (Rolling Stone) continues to grow. Recently recognised by her peers with an invitation to feature and perform in 2011’s Rock Chicks Expo at the Melbourne Arts Centre, Diana has become an iconic figure in the Australian music scene.
With recent concerts at Woodford Folk Festival and sold-out performances with the Haight Ashbury Stage Show, catch our “feisty and prevailing rock chick” (Music Network) for a night of indie folk/rock, dancing to your old favourites like ‘I Go Off’ and ‘Perfect Family’, and take home a warm glow from this “passionate enigma” (Louie Athanasiou) to last you until her next concert in your home town.
