Novices test out their paddling skills

Giving it a go at the come and try day.

Flamin Dragons held a Come & Try Day last Saturday to introduce people to the sport of Dragon Boat paddling.
A number of people took the chance to try out paddling a dragon boat and all enjoyed the experience. It was a good way to get started in a different type of sport and the weather was great for their first paddling session.
This coming Saturday, September 1, the club will be starting a novice training course of six weeks. Anyone over 12 years of age wishing to try paddling a dragon boat is welcome to come along to the Westport Marina and look for our boat shed. You will have to be there by 7.45am on Saturday morning, just bring yourself and a hat, bottle of water, sunscreen and some enthusiasm. The cost is $20 for the full six weeks and this will be taken off your membership if you decide to join.
Flamin Dragons have also been selling tickets to a Raffle that was to be drawn on September 9 but that date has now been extended to October 20. First Prize is a kayak and paddle Donated by Larry Pullen and Second Prize is a Kindle EReader. Anyone wishing to purchase tickets can contact Margaret on 6582 1785.
