Two men appeared in court on Monday, September 3, after a man was assaulted, and another stabbed at Port Macquarie in June.
Between 1am and 2am on Sunday 3 June 2012, a 25-year-old man was involved in an altercation with two men aged 19 and 20 in Hay Street.
Police will allege that the 25-year-old man attempted to run away, however was chased by the two men who punched and kicked him to the head.
The 25-year-old man’s mobile phone was allegedly stolen, before the two men left him lying on the ground suffering facial injuries.
The two men then attended a car park on Short Street, where they were involved in another verbal argument with two men who were walking past.
The 19-year-old man allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed one of the men, aged 23, in the stomach.
Detectives from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command conducted extensive inquiries into the incidents.
About 8am on Saturday, September 1, police executed a search warrant at the home of the 19 year old man in Bilambil Heights, NSW.
Officers seized a ‘pen’ gun, a shortened single barrel shotgun, a quantity of ammunition, a knife, and a small amount of cannabis.
The 19-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess unregistered firearm, possess shortened firearm without authority, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit, and possess prohibited drug.
A 20-year-old man was also arrested on Saturday and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with robbery in company and affray.
The result of Monday’s proceedings was unknown at the time of going to press.
