A day to remember

Academic Achievement: (Back) Nick Hogan, Sam Corben and Jackson Blythe; (Front) Anador Walsh, Briana McDonald, Emily Rokobauer, Bonnie Moss, Katie Piper (Outstanding Student 2012), Sarah Doyle and Laura Rixon.

Parents, friends, students and teachers gathered in Port Macquarie High School’s Multi-Purpose Centre to celebrate the graduation of Year 12 students.
Awards, musical items and heartfelt speeches entertained and moved the audience.
The MC for the occasion was Mrs Jan Von Schoenberg and she reminded the audience that 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the school.
First order of business was the announcement of the School Captains for 2013. The news that Kiralee Munday and Mitch Davis are the captains and Sydonie McLaughlin and Chris Reed are the Vice-Captains was enthusiastically received.
The musical talents of Brianna McDonald, Michael Hambly, Will Ho, Jae Peklar and the Year 12 music class were much appreciated, especially the high energy delivery of the Alice Cooper classic “School’s Out”.
Principal Mark Longstaff’s advice to Year 12 was to not just sit on the fence but make a positive difference. Year Adviser Stuart Jackson spoke of his fondness and affection for his students. Both spoke of the wonderful successes of the year group and that they were all wonderful ambassadors for the school and public education.
The large number of students being presented with awards was testimony to the hard work and effort by many students across many disciplines, whether it be academic, sporting or cultural.
The assembly concluded with an emotional final roll call. All that remains is the small matter of the HSC Exams and the formal.
