Framed and at court

Association members Graeme and Virginia Cox and Jill Cairns about to hang Graeme’s drawing in the Hastings Fine Art Gallery.

Artworks of the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association will be well and truly in the spotlight when the ‘Framed at the Courthouse’ Art Exhibition opens today, Thursday, September 27, at Port Macquarie’s Historic Courthouse.
By taking the short stroll along Sunset Street, art lovers can then enjoy some more original art at the recently opened Hastings Fine Art Gallery. Both exhibitions will be open over the long weekend period from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day, from Thursday, September 27 to Wednesday, October 3.
“This is going to be a very busy weekend for our members, with both venues open, and offering a large and exciting array of artworks,” said Helen Pain, Publicity Officer  of the Association.
“It’s good to be back in the Historic Courthouse for our October Long Weekend exhibition, as it’s such an historic and unique building, right in the heart of Port Macquarie. It was a very popular event last year, with good crowds attending. As well, we have just hung a brand new display of paintings, drawings, prints, cards, sculptures and mosaics in our home gallery,” Brian Barker, President of the Association, said.
“The Gallery is our permanent exhibition space, and is just a short distance away on the corner of Sunset and Murray Streets.
“All the artwork in both exhibitions is the work of our members, and everything is for sale at very realistic prices. A visit to both will be well worth it,” he said, “especially if you are looking for a holiday memento or a very special gift.”
‘Framed at the Courthouse’ will take place at the Historic Courthouse on the corner of Hay and Clarence Streets (diagonally opposite the Glasshouse) and, to find the Hastings Fine Art Gallery, walk down Hay Street towards the river and turn right into Sunset Street.
From October 4, Hastings Fine Art Gallery will return to normal operating hours of 10am to 4pm, Thursday to Sunday. For further information, contact Helen Pain on 0432 232 054.
