Be heard on indoor sport stadium

Council is encouraging the community to participate in a community engagement forum to discuss the proposed expansion of the Port Macquarie Indoor Sports Stadium.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Mayor Peter Besseling said the forum would provide local residents, stakeholders and community members the opportunity to ask questions and give comment on the initial design concept plans for the redevelopment.
“Council was successful in receiving $2.8 million in federal funding to increase the capacity of the Port Macquarie Indoor Stadium as well $2.5 million in state funding for the re-establishment of a PCYC in Port Macquarie,” Mayor Besseling said.
“This forum provides an opportunity to learn more about the planned upgrade and extension and allows Council and other stakeholders to engage in a healthy discussion about any concerns or aspirations they may have for this significant redevelopment.”
Draft copies of the concept plan will be available for perusal, with the architect undertaking the design process also on hand to hear comments, along with Council staff and members of the PCYC.
“It is important for Council to work with our local sporting and community groups and any impacted residents to ensure the vision for this major infrastructure project is understood and considered and we encourage their involvement in this forum,” Mayor Besseling said.
The forum will take place today, Thursday, October 11, from 6.00-7.30pm at the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC), Central Road, Port Macquarie.
Council is offering to provide transport from the Indoor Stadium to the EOC for those who require assistance. For further information, contact Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Building Coordinator Brian Ross on 6581 8111.
