Member for Port Mac-quarie, Leslie Williams, has announced an upgraded science laboratory for Port Macquarie High School.
“The O’Farrell/Stoner Government has reneg-otiated project management and design fees and Port Macquarie High School is a direct beneficiary.
“Under the previous Labor Government, project management and design fees ranged from 11.8 per cent to 14.3 per cent.
“The new rate for building projects announced in the 2012/13 Budget will be 8.4 per cent, which means the government can deliver new facilities for schools by passing on those savings of $8.6 million,” Mrs Williams said.
“I am proud to announce Port Macquarie High School will receive an upgraded science laboratory.
“The current lab is old and outdated and will be upgraded to the latest standards, including a preparation room and storage room.
“This will be a state of the art facility and will be a huge benefit to students studying science for many years to come,” Mrs Williams said.
“This investment will support the delivery of science curriculum in the high school and will hopefully encourage greater participation of the subject.
“Tenders will soon be called to undertake the work, with construction expected early next year.
“This is an example of a Government delivering additional new facilities out of the existing Capital Works Program budgets through efficient economic management,” Mrs Williams said.
