New South Wales’ best junior Touch Football talent was on display in Port Macquarie last weekend, when the 2013 New South Wales Touch Association (NSWTA) Junior State Cup was held.
A crowd of more than 12,000 people swamped the town, injecting what is believed to be close to $10 million into the local economy.
Two hundred and eighty eight teams converged on the Port Macquarie Regional Sports Stadium and Tuffins Lane precinct, coming from all areas across the State for the two-day event, which was played on Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17.
The 2013 NSWTA State Cup Launch was also held on Friday, February 15 at Port Panthers at 11am, with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Mayor Peter Besseling in attendance.
The 2013 Junior State Cup was played in typical Port Macquarie conditions, with a contrast of rain and sunshine, which certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of those in attendance, with high quality Touch being delivered by each of the 288 teams across ten divisions.
“NSWTA were really pleased with the result of the weekend, in bringing and managing 12,000 persons to Port Macquarie Regional Stadium,” said NSWTA General Manager Dean Russell.
