Ski titles make waves

Not even the weather could put a dampener on the Mastercraft Australian Open Water Ski Titles at Stoney Park.

No less than 10 countries were represented at the first pro water ski competition of the season.

It was the world number one ranked slalom skier Will Asher who not only took out top honours in the slalom event, but broke the course record by more than four buoys.

In the jump event, the cash went to the big Canadian who booted a massive jump of 63.4 metres to take out the event comfortably.

Special mention must go to Joel Wing, the only athlete who made the finals for both slalom and jump.

Also Mark Louder (Australian Over 55 men’s jump record holder) the oldest competitor of the weekend making his first pro final at 56 years of age.

The staff at Stoney Park put together a great tournament and will be doing so again in a few weeks’ time when they host the Water Ski Nationals over the Easter Long Weekend.
