Founded in 2007, Melbourne Ballet has defined its own unique style of ballet, which is innovative while paying respect to classical technique. The dancers have trained at some of the most prestigious companies in the world – including The Australian Ballet, The Paris Opera and The Royal Ballet Company.
This April the Glasshouse presents Infinite Space, critically acclaimed work consisting of four highly dramatic and uplifting classically based dance works. Combined with outstanding musical masterpieces of Mozart, Vivaldi, Elgar and Beethoven, the sensitive choreography soars through every shade of emotion.
This unique performance is a breathtaking example of classical dance re-interpreted to inspire both new and loyal ballet audiences.

‘In One Day’ – Choreographed by Simon Hoy and Robert Kelly, to the music of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. A work of sheer physicality and athleticism.
Dark Before Daylight’ – Featuring the classical pointe shoe and tutus. ‘Dark Before Daylight’ is an impression of the timeless story of Swan Lake. Choreographed by Simon Hoy to the music of Elgar.
‘Phrased Without Word’ – Choreographed by Simon Hoy to Arvo Pärt’s ‘Spiegel in Spiegel’, this is a breathtaking physical expression of this score.
‘Infinite Space’ – Choreographed by Simon Hoy to the music of Mozart’s 27th Piano Concerto. ‘Infinite Space’ has become a signature piece for the Melbourne Ballet Company and is an uplifting celebration of hope and beauty.
