40 years of caring for our koala carers celebrated

As part of Port Macquarie Koala Hospital’s 40th Anniversary Celebrations 2 important happenings will be taking place.

Today, Thursday, March 21, at 10AM, the Koala Hospital there will be a presentation osa 40 Year Koala Hospital History book on the hospital from its beginnings in 1973 to 2013 to the Port Macquarie Library.

Mayor Peter Bessling will be in attendance for the presentation.

There will also be koala display in the Library.

Further, on Easter Saturday, March 30, the Koala Hospital will be holding its Annual Open Day.

The Day is set to be bigger than ever, as an important part of the 40th celebrations.

In particular the Hospital will be honouring the work of Jean and Max Starr who began the hospital in their home 40 years ago.

There will be a huge birthday cake and balloons for the children as well as a plethora of activities.

There will be games, Troppo Bob, a sausage sizzle, Sing Australia, face painting, White Elephant, and raffles, and more.

Margret Meagher and Linda hall from Hello Koalas will be in attendance, to tell everyone about this exciting project for Port Macquarie.

Westport High will be exhibiting koala models that local school have decorated.

People can judge their favourite.

Local MP Leslie Williams will also be in attendance.
