TWO police officers have been injured during the arrest of a man on the Mid North Coast.
Just after 2.30pm on Friday 12 April, four officers attended a house in Main Street, Eungai Creek, to arrest a man on warrant from Macksville Local Court.
As police approached the front door, a man left the house allegedly armed with a Samurai sword.
Police will allege the man attempted to remove the sword from its sheath and attack police. A struggle ensued, during which the man and two officers sustained injuries.
Police disarmed and arrested the man. He was taken the Macksville Hospital, where he was treated for a number of cuts.
A male constable also received treatment for a cut to his left hand and a male detective senior constable sustained soreness to his right hand and left arm.
The 51-year-old man was later released from hospital. He was charged by virtue of the warrant, along with using a weapon to avoid apprehension and resisting arrest.
He was refused bail to appear in Kempsey Local Court on Monday.
