FOUR people have been arrested after a clandestine lab was uncovered in Kempsey last Wednesday, 10 April.
Acting on information received, police from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command raided a home on Nicholson Street, South Kempsey, about at 2am on 10 April.
It’s alleged that police smelt the odour of burning chemicals coming from an open window and looked through the window observing a clandestine laboratory on a table.
Officers spoke to a man and woman at the home, and entered the home to find another man, as well as a woman who was allegedly pushing an unknown substance down the sink.
It’s believed the clandestine laboratory was producing methyl-amphetamine (speed).
Two men, aged 18 and 42, and two women, aged 34 and 25, were arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.
They were all charged with manufacturing a prohibited drug and taking part in the manufacture or production of a prohibited drug.
In addition, the 25-year-old woman was charged with breach of bail.
They were all refused bail and appeared before Kempsey Local Court that day and bail was further refused. All four re-appeared at Macksville Local Court on Thursday, 11 April.
