ETC is helping Lifeline North Coast in its quest to become more technology savvy by donating $12,600 through the ETC Community Support Fund for the purchase of seven new computers, printers and software.
Lifeline North Coast general manager Allister Donald said the acquisition of the latest computer technology was an essential step towards becoming more profitable and therefore better positioned to provide valuable counselling services to those most in need on the North Coast.
“We’re hoping the computers will help increase our sales in our retail shops and the more we increase our sales, the more we can put towards our face to face counselling services and our 24-hour telephone counselling,” Mr Donald said.
“The computers will help us run the shops more effectively in terms of stock control, purchasing and record keeping.
“We have been working with really old computers that had been donated to us and we have realised that we are actually going to start losing out unless we become a little more sophisticated in the way we run our shops.”
Mr Donald said an added benefit of the IT upgrade, made possible by the ETC grant, was the up-skilling of Lifeline volunteers.
“Volunteers are an integral part of our operations. We desperately need volunteers whether it’s on the phones or in the shops and we’re hoping that more volunteers will be attracted to work at Lifeline if we offer them computer training,” Mr Donald said.
ETC director Spencer Bruskin said ETC was thrilled to be able to support Lifeline through the ETC Community Support Fund.
