PORT Macquarie High School Year 7 and 8 students, along with senior music students, enjoyed a mini-concert from Aboriginal musican Tjupurru recently.
Specialising in in playing the didgeribone, a type of contemporary didgeridoo, Tjupurru hails from the Kimberley region in the north-west of Australia. Tjupurru describes himself as Melanesian, and plays a mix of modern and traditional music, combining his didgebone with a variety of other original and musical special effects.
Tjupurru’s infectious personality and music skills were well received and he will no doubt be welcomed back in the future.
