Still searching for his first Ironman win, Luke Bell would love to break his duck at Ironman Australia.
Ironman Australia, Port Macquarie will be held on Sunday, 5 May.
The 226km race will take place in Port Macquarie and the surrounding regions of Camden Haven. The course will include a 3.8km swim in the Hastings River, 180km bike from the city centre extending along the stunning coast line followed by a 42.2km run to the Ironman Australia finish line, located at Town Green.
“You are always looking forward to a win, and you always accept them when they come as you never know when the next one may be.
“I have been extremely grateful for all my races and results. Albeit a lot of Ironman 70.3 victories and a lot of second places in Ironmans,” he said.
“I am happy where I sit knowing that all of those second place Ironman finishes there was nothing more I could have done. Ironman Australia will be the same, go out there and give 110 per cent and see where it puts you.
“Ironman Australia was my first Ironman event and was going to be my only one before I started a real job. I can still remember the day perfectly. More so for the excitement I experienced finding myself racing against the greats of our sport.
“I do remember talking to Thomas Hellriegal and pinching myself that I was out there with Peter Reid, Macca (Chris McCormack), Craig Walton, Chris Legh, Jason Shortis and Oliver Bernhard. The memories still bring a smile to my face.”
