GREATER Port Macquarie has launched a new pocket-guide for visitors.
Eat, See, Do is an insider’s look at the hidden gems of this beautiful area.
The response from the local tourism industry has been positive, with a visitor from Germany describing it as “the best publication in any regional area of Australia”.
Filled with more than 300 local hotspots and new things to do, it captures the area’s extraordinary nature, culture and foodie attractions.
The free magazine-style guide features 84-pages of bite-sized travel ideas with fresh imagery, illustrations, interesting facts, maps and must-do lists.
The guide is available online or to collect in the area.
Produced by the Economic Development and Tourism Unit at Port Macquarie Hastings Council, Eat, See, Do is designed to showcase the area’s huge variety of offerings to international and domestic travellers arriving for a holiday or major events.
A free publication – East, See, Do is available through accommodation venues, major attractions, at major events and the Visitor Information Centre.
New things and hidden gems to eat, see and do in the guide include:
- Local produce – encouraging visitors to discover local flavours and stock the fridge like a local at Ken Little’s Quality Fruit and Vegetables plus top quality local butchers.
- Hand-feed the animals – Billabong Koala and Wildlife Park has new exhibits and a chance to feed the snow-leopards and penguins and hold a python.
- Poet’s Walk – take in 16 heritage sites around the village of Kendall revealing poetry by Henry Kendall.
- Flower Bowl Circuit – see the beautiful spring flowers and coastal views at Kattang Nature Reserve.
- Daily Dose – top picks on popular local coffee shops and cafes.
- Shopping in Wauchope – boutique and specialty shopping with a great village vibe.
