PORT City Breakers moved into third position on the Group 3 rugby league ladder after a bruising win against Port Macquarie on Saturday.
There was no shortage of talking points to emerge from the match, the one Sharks player removed from the field, which led to a brawl in the crowd.
Being a man up gave the Breakers a significant advantage as they won 38-24 to relegate the Sharks to the bottom of the table.
The Sharks probably played the better football, but being a man down for more than a half cost them dearly.
Group 3 secretary Barrie Smith said an investigation would take place about the “ugly incident”.
Reports suggested the player was sent from the field for abusing a referee and later damaged the dressing sheds.
A fight broke out in the stands and a woman was hospitalised as a result.
“It’s a serious incident, for sure,” Mr Smith said.
“But, it’s too early to say what will come of it.”
In other Group 3 matches on Saturday, Old Bar Beach Pirates defeated Forster Tuncurry 40-6, while the Wauchope Blues rolled Wingham 48-14 to take top spot on the ladder.
