PORT Macquarie’s scenic course, the enthusiastic volunteers and the fantastic race conditions of Ironman Australia has been featured in a one-hour television special on ONE.
Port Macquarie-Hastings mayor Peter Besseling said the program, shown to a national television audience on Sunday, was a major benefit of the Ironman event.
“This program is a fantastic advertisement for our region and with the clear skies we had on race day this year the footage made the Hastings sparkle,” he said.
“The scenic course is one of the highlights of Ironman in Port Macquarie.”
Council has implemented a comprehensive promotional campaign over recent months to capitalise on the business and tourism opportunities presented by Ironman, which includes placement of tourism advertisements throughout the highlights broadcast.
“A particular focus of the marketing campaign associated with the 2013 Ironman has been to draw attention to the Camden Haven,” Cr Besseling said.
“This included advertising in the competitor program, an Eat See Do guide in each competitor’s registration kit, targeted signage and a unique touch to the athlete welcome.”
The 2013 Ironman Australia Port Macquarie Highlights program will be replayed on Sunday from 9.30pm.
