DARREN Williams claimed the prestigious Dawn Pardoe trophy at the Port Macquarie Blue Water Fishing Club competition on Sunday.
The blustery south-westerly conditions didn’t deter six boats with 13 competitors on board.
Williams took honours with 17.90 points from John Donlan on 16.96.
The memorial trophy, named after club stalwart Dawn Pardoe, was presented by past president Doug Breakwell.
The club’s barbecue and weigh-in started at noon and was very well supported by members, families and friends.
Fish that greeted the weigh-master included kingfish, trag, snapper and flathead.
The best boat on the day was ‘Animal’, skippered by Williams, with an impressive 50.70 points and the runner-up was ‘Quicksilver’, skippered by John Robertson with 11.42 points.
The John Donlan Smash Repair award for the biggest fish was won by Rob Hyland with a great kingfish tipping the scales at 7.58kg.
The Port Macquarie Subaru award for the best snapper was won by Pauline Roods and the Ned Kelly’s Bait and Tackle prize for the best flathead went to Barry Ingram.
The club’s next outing will be held on Sunday 16 June. Anyone wishing to join the club or attend the weigh-ins and barbecue are most welcome.
