IT was only a couple years ago that The Wolfe Brothers were virtually unknown on mainland Australia.
Now they are in the midst of a national tour with Australian country music legend Lee Kernaghan.
It’s been a hectic journey, frontman Tom Wolfe said.
A few years ago, somewhere in the peaceful island state of Tasmania, one typically quiet country pub would undergo a drastic transformation on a Saturday night.
The usual four locals that prop up the bar would swell to a packed house.
The tills would be ringing as the fridges quickly emptied of Bundaberg Rum.
There would be people of all ages, shapes and sizes, and all walks of life – all there for the same reason … to party.
But things have changed. Now the whole nation wants a piece of them.
The Wolfe Brothers are an exciting modern country/rock group hailing from southern Tasmania. The four piece outfit is fronted by brothers Nick and Tom Wolfe and joined by Brodie Rainbird and Casey Kostiuk.
Since the release of their self-titled debut EP in 2010, things have been pleasantly hectic for The Wolfe Brothers.
The group has supported John Williamson, Wendy Matthews, Travis Collins, Liam Brew, Crakajak and Diana Corcoran. They’ve also released several music videos on The Country Music Channel, with the second single You Don’t Own Her reaching the top 40 on the CMC charts.
“It’s been amazing,” Tom Wolfe told the Port Macquarie Independent this week.
“We’re going to places in Australia we’ve never been before and we’re getting a great response.
“To tour with Lee Kernaghan has been an incredible experience.
“He’s been doing this for more than 20 years and he’s still the ultimate professional … and a good bloke, too.”
Wolfe said he had never been to Port Macquarie before, but was looking forward to the gig on Saturday, July 27.
“I haven’t been to any part of that coast before, so it’ll be a great experience,” he said.
But first there’s a trip to Nashville, Tennessee – the home of country music in the United States.
“It’s another first for us … we can’t wait,” Wolfe said.
“To be able to go over there and play our stuff in front of a new audience will be a great experience,” he said.
