Palmer’s pollie talk

Mid-North Coast residents will soon have the chance to talk politics with Clive Palmer.
The Palmer United Party Federal leader Clive Palmer will this month visit Taree and Port Macquarie alongside rugby league greats Matt Adamson and Glenn Lazarus.
The trio will visit both towns on Saturday 20 July, attending a lunch at Port Macquarie Panthers before travelling to Taree for a dinner at the Taree Wingham Race Club.
During the trip, Mr Adamson – a Taree Sporting Hall of Famer – will pull on his boots for the first time since retiring from rugby league in 2005 to play in a charity match for the Can Assist cancer network.
Mr Palmer said he was looking forward to meeting the many Mid-North Coast residents and discussing party policies that were relevant to the local area.
“I always enjoy hearing from residents of regional Australia about what they think of our policies and how we should keep developing this great nation,” Mr Palmer said.
“The major parties have taken the regions for granted but we are determined to make areas like the mid-north coast a focus and what better start than a frank discussion with the people who live there.”
Mr Adamson is standing for the Palmer United Party on the NSW Senate ticket, while Mr Lazarus is standing on its Queensland Senate ticket.
Meanwhile Nationals candidate for Lyne David Gillespie was joined on the campaign trail last weekend by Nationals Senator John Williams. The pair toured the electorate speaking with residents along the Mid North Coast.
“The Mid North Coast is a special place for me and I always enjoy my visits here,” Mr Williams said.
Over the course of this week Mr Gillespie will be joined by both Senate Leader Barnaby Joyce and Member for Riverina Michael McCormack.
