A thrill up the spine

GREG BARRON

ACCLAIMED thriller writer Greg Barron will appear at the Port Macquarie Library on Saturday to discuss his novels and give an account of the real-life adventures that influenced his writing.
Barron has lived in Scotland and the United States, but the Dorrigo-born author now lives in the hinterland of the Mid North Coast.
His writing reflects his interests in political, social and environmental change.
Barron’s first thriller Rotten Gods was published in 2012 to wide acclaim and his new title Savage Tide is now on sale.
Savage Tide is a race-against-time story set in East Africa, Syria and Iraq and features intelligence officer Marika Hartmann, who works with ex-special forces colleague P.J. Johnson to investigate a cold-blooded conspiracy on an international level that could decimate the cities of the West.
Barron’s studies of how modern terrorism works and the role of security services add authenticity to his stories that have been described as echoing the work of thriller writers McLean, Clancy and Ludlum.
Barron will appear at the Port Macquarie Library on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm.
The Friends of Port Macquarie Library are presenting this free event and refreshments will be provided.
Please RSVP to the library on 6581 8755 to ensure a place.
