THE support for the establishment of the Hastings Mid North Coast Bravehearts continues, with the Port Macquarie Sunrise Rotary Club getting behind the organisation.
Bravehearts aims to empower, educate and protect young people against sexual assault.
In Australia, research indicates that approximately one in five children will be sexually assaulted in some way before their 18th birthday.
Peter Grob from Port Macquarie Sunrise Rotary Club said the club had a lot of members with young families.
“That is a good enough reason for our club to support Bravehearts and to be interested in the well-being of our future generation,” he said.
“We feel the need to protect and nurture the young ones and also provide assistance in their education.
“It is important to look after the future leaders of our nation.”
Port Macquarie Sunrise Rotary is the lastest organisation or business to lend its support to Bravehearts.
Hastings Mid North Coast Bravehearts Committee Chairman Gary Turnbull said the committee had been overwhelmed with the level of support shown by local businesses and organisations as well as by members of our local community.
“Bravehearts is having a community breakfast next month which will further highlight the efforts of the organisation and well as raising funds to help educate the community that our children need to be educated against the insidious issue of sexual assault,” Dr Turnbull said.
Local businesses are encouraged to support the breakfast to be held on 30 August by joining us for breakfast and learning more about this important issue.
Tickets to the Bravehearts Breakfast cost $30 per person or $300 per table (10) and are available at Panthers and St George Bank.
