NEW solar hot water systems will this month bring Maribyrnong City Council one step closer to becoming carbon neutral.
The upgrade to solar hot water systems at the Maidstone and Braybook community centres will help save up to 4.8 tonnes of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere each year.
Stony Creek Ward councillor Joseph Cutri said the project was an example of one initiative being used by the council to boost sustainability across infrastructure and facilities.
“Over the coming year people will see a gathering momentum and focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” he said.
