Focus on renewable energy

A PUBLIC talk – ‘What Future Energy? The decline of fossil fuels, the rise of renewables, and the promise of decentralised electricity generation’ will be held tomorrow from 3-5pm, at the Port Macquarie library meeting room in Grant Street.
The talk is free and is hosted by Climate Change Australia (CCA) in partnership with Regional Development Australia and the Observatory Hotel.
CCA Hastings president Harry Creamer said the guest speaker was Dr Fereidoon Sioshansi, the president of Menlo Energy Economics, based in San Francisco, and the publisher of EEnergy Informer, an international energy newsletter.
“We are lucky to have Dr Sioshansi speak in Port Macquarie. He is at the cutting-edge of the energy sector. We all need energy, but most people know little about it. Now’s the chance to get informed,” Mr Creamer said.
“For starters, you can find out how to save money from energy efficiency, smart grids and household solar systems. Dr Sioshansi will also talk about electricity prices and where they are heading.
“Other hot topics include the changing electricity market, global forecasts for fossil fuels and renewable energy, and the oil and shale gas bonanza in the US.”
