PORT Macquarie-Hastings Council’s Move Eat Live Well program, in conjunction with Port Macquarie-Hastings Libraries, is launching a new exercise equipment lending scheme.
As part of the initiative there will be exercise equipment on loan from the libraries in Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton including step bands, aerobic steps, hand weights, skipping ropes, yoga mats, pedometers and Heartmoves DVDs.
To complement the exercise equipment, the Port Macquarie library will also showcase a wide range of health and well-being resources including exercise DVDs, magazines and cookbooks available for loan through all three libraries.
The exercise equipment was purchased through the Move Eat Live Well program – a two-year program funded through the Federal Government’s Healthy Communities Initiative. Move Eat Live Well seeks to improve access to opportunities for healthy eating and physical activity for local residents.
The library loan scheme will continue beyond the funded program. To find out what equipment is available or to make a booking, members simply need to visit http://mnclibrary.org.au/
Alternatively they can phone the library on 6581 8755 or email portlib@mnclibrary.org.au
The scheme will be officially launched by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council deputy mayor Adam Roberts on Monday 2 December at 10am, with the launch to be followed by a healthy morning tea. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
