THE Town Beach skate park in Port Macquarie is having a facelift.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council started doing some essential maintenance on the park last week, and work is expected to finish sometime this week.
The council’s recreation and buildings manager Liam Bulley said the $10,000 project would include pressure cleaning and re-sealing of all concrete surfaces and cleaning and re-coating of all steel work.
Mr Bulley said every effort would be made to minimise inconvenience to skate park users.
“The work will be carried out on half of the facility at a time, starting with the bowl area, allowing the other half to remain open for use,” he said.
The Port Macquarie skate park was completed in December 2011 and is the largest facility of its kind in the local government area.
Mr Bulley said the works planned were required to prolong the life of the skate park. He said similar works would be undertaken at the skate park every year, funds permitting.
