PORT Macquarie’s new one-stop government shop was officially opened last week.
Acting Premier Andrew Stoner and Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams formally opened the new Service NSW centre last Tuesday, heralding a new era in customer service delivery.
The service centre is the first on the Mid North Coast and one of an initial 18 service centres being rolled out since July this year.
Mr Stoner said he was impressed by the new customer service improvements, which include an express counter, concierges and self-service options.
“Service NSW is helping transform the way people do business with the government,” Mr Stoner said.
“Our service centres are part of the plan to make government transactions easier and simpler for all NSW residents and businesses.
“Local people are now able to carry out more than 850 NSW government transactions – such as driver licences, vehicle registration, fishing licences, birth certificates or contractor licences – either over the counter, through the website or via the 24/7 phone service.
“The centre is open for extended hours during the weekdays and also on Saturdays – an option I know has been welcomed by residents and in particular small businesses.”
Mr Stoner said more and more services and transactions were being added all the time, with applications for birth, death and marriage certificates now available online at www.service.nsw.gov.au
“Customers using the online service can now apply without having to handwrite an application form. They can apply for a senior’s card without having to produce a JP signature and they can pay their Housing NSW rental payments,” Mr Stoner said.
“We are truly building a one stop-shop experience, whether it’s through the service centres, online or through the 24/7 phone service.”
The Port Macquarie Service NSW centre is on the corner of Central Road and Barton Crescent, Port Macquarie. Opening hours are 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays.
